2010 Zooper Snapshots Photo Contest!

It’s not too early to start snapping pictures for the Zoo’s annual photography contest – Zooper Snapshots, sponsored by the Kansas City Zoo Photo Club. Be a part of this once-a-year chance to spotlight your talent! You will be able to submit your photo entry beginning August 1, 2010.

There will be two age categories: Adult and Youth (ages 3 through 15 years). Each age group can participate in two content categories: Animals and Nature. The hardest part of entering the contest will be picking your favorite photo! There is only one entry per person, per category, please.

In August, you can submit each entry as an 5” by 7” unframed, non-mounted, print. (If using a digital camera, please submit prints at 300 dpi or greater on photo-quality paper.)

Contest Guidelines:
- All submissions must be received before 5 p.m. on September 30, 2010.
- Submitted photos must be taken at the Kansas City Zoo.
- Only one entry per person, per category.
- Photos must have been taken between September 2009 and September 30, 2010.
- Photographs must have no retouching or Photoshopping (digital manipulation) of any kind, other than you may crop for size and content.
- Entries must be made via photo print in person or by US mail.
- No slides, transparencies, compact discs or e-mailed photos will be accepted.
- You must include the following information on the back of each photo: 
      - Name
      - Address
      - Phone number
      - Email address
      - Age (if you are entering Youth category)
      - Category of entry (Animal or Nature)
- Entries will be void if they are incomplete, late, lost, or are deemed offensive by judges.
- Zoo employees may not enter the contest.

The Zoo reserves the right to publish any submitted photos, and to use the photos for promotional or other purposes without compensation to the photographer.

Winners will be announced during our September Second Saturday Kids Fun Fest in November 2010.

Prize:
Prizes will be awarded in each category based on the number of submissions.

Judging:
Zoo guests will be invited to vote on the winning photographs in October 2010.
